  1. CATALOG/VALIDATE

  4.  This function validates the active catalogue. After execution
  5.  a text display appears which reports on the status of the catalogue.
  6.  This validation report can also be printed on a connected printer.

  9.   * Data integrity of catalogue files
  10.     -------------------------------

  12.     Usually catalogue files cannot contain less entries than the catalogues
  13.     own entries. But if under certain circumstances like hard disk
  14.     errors etc. the .index or .image files contain less data records
  15.     than the catalogue contains entries, the validate function tries to
  16.     repair the catalogue files.
  17.     This operation may cause some entries to be lost.
  18.     The following validation report will contain information about
  19.     the status of the catalogue files.

  21.   * too much memory used within the data path

  24.     A check is made to see whether catalogue files use more memory than
  25.     they actually need according to the number of catalogue entries.

  31.     Should graphics have been catalogued twice (or more often)
  32.     these will be reported after validation. By using ENTRIES/SEARCH
  33.     the duplicate entries can be searched for and then removed from
  34.     ENTRIES/SEARCH and ENTRIES/FOUND...)

  36.   * changed graphics

  39.     This functions checks whether graphics have been modified after
  40.     cataloguing. Should such changes be detected the validation
  41.     report will show the corresponding entries. UPDATE allows the user to
  42.     automatically catalogue these graphics again.

  44.   * availability of all the catalogued graphics/animation's
  45.     -------------------------------------------------------

  47.     A check is made to see whether
  48.     all catalogued graphics are still available in the
  49.     data paths. Deleted graphics will be listed in the validation
  50.     report. UPDATE allows removing of these entries from the catalogue.
